Timeline (A Short History of Our Site)
- December 2009: MastersInCounseling.org goes live on the Internet to help prospective counseling students find the right degree program and to help build their industry knowledge.
- October 2011: Dr. Barbara LoFrisco joins the team and begins blogging on the MastersInCounseling.org blog. Dr. LoFrisco is a licensed mental health counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist.
- March 2018: MastersInCounseling.org re-design finally launches, along with new content and updates to many of our useful guides.
About Our Blog
Our blog is maintained by Dr. Barbara LoFrisco, a licensed mental health counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, and certified sex therapist. Her doctorate is in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of South Florida, where she is also a Visiting Instructor in the Department of Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling. She is passionate about educating and nurturing counseling students and new counselors.
Dr. LoFrisco actively posts on topics related to counseling education and career advice. She’s a great resource for both current and prospective students. Follow Dr. LoFrisco to stay up-to-date on trends and best practices.
About Our Podcast
The Mastering Counseling Podcast, is hosted by Megan Hawksworth, a licensed marriage and family therapist who treats individuals, couples, and families. Megan earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from Northwestern University, and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Family Institute at Northwestern University.
On each episode of the Mastering Counseling Show, Megan conducts an in-depth interview with a leading therapist or counseling/therapy professional, where they explore the ins and outs of working in a counseling practice, treating clients, and more.
