If you are in private practice, or are considering it, you must wear a lot of hats. Your clinical skill is essential, of course, but there are other skills you must have in order to be successful. In this post, I will provide a list of professionals that will help you.
Business
Camille McDaniel: A clinician and business coach. Provides common-sense business advice, which we don’t get in graduate school but need if we are going to open our own businesses! Particularly useful if you are considering opening up a group practice.
Video Marketing
Ernesto Segismundo: A clinican who is also an expert on video marketing. Videos can be a really fun way to market your practice, particularly if you do not like to write. Ernesto is both informative and supportive! Check out his Facebook group.
Website
Kat Love: Unsure what to put on your website? Check out Kat Love, who does a great job of utilizing technology to connect with empathy! A good website is essential for your practice.
Insurance
Barbara Griswold: A clinician and expert on insurance issues. Topics covered include credentialing, coding properly, preparing for insurance audits, submitting claims, etc. She takes a complicated topic and breaks it down so that other therapists can understand.
Court
Nicol Stolar-Peterson: A clinician who is experienced at giving testimony in court. Provides consultations and useful tips for how therapists should interact with the legal system. But don’t wait…prepare NOW. Check out her recommended verbiage for the court policy that should be a part of your intake paperwork.
