Best of the Counseling and Mental Health Web: The National Social Anxiety Center
Each episode we award a site or organization as the “Best of the Counseling and Mental Health Web”… as selected by Mastering Counseling Podcast listeners! Whether you’re a current mental health professional, or a student studying to become one, there are so many great resources out there discussing counseling and mental health. Some of these resources could even help your clients and be worth recommending to them.
As a reminder, if you ever have a suggestion for a resource or organization we should recommend, drop us a line via email, Faceook, or Twitter!
This week we’re happy to recognize The National Social Anxiety Center or NSAC. The NSAC is a national association of independent regional CBT clinics and certified cognitive-behavioral therapists offering evidence-based treatment services for social anxiety and related problems.
They were established in 2015 with the mission of “making the highest quality, evidence-based psychotherapy services to treat social anxiety available to those in need.”
Obviously that’s a fantastic mission, but their award is due also to the fact that they have a fantastic amount of online resources built around social anxiety. When you connect with them online you can explore the basics, like their straight forward definition of social anxiety, and their helpful list of regional clinics. Beyond that though you can dive into personal stories of struggle and success in overcoming social anxiety on their site, in addition to information about cognitive behavioral therapy, and information for clinicians looking for more resources to increase their knowledge or help their patients.
Having such a focus on one important topic, allows the National Social Anxiety Center to provide information at a depth that most other web resources cannot match.
Huge congrats to them on being our award winner!
